Every CPR, BLS and First Aid card from the American Heart Association (AHA) is valid for 2 years. Renew before the date on your card so there is no gap in your certification. Not sure which card you have? See which certification you need.

If your BLS card has not expired, book a BLS renewal class. It covers the same skills and ends with a skills test. If your card has expired, book the first-time BLS class instead.
Book the same course again before your card expires: Heartsaver CPR AED or Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED. You leave with a new 2-year card.
Book the first-time class for your course. Some employers accept a renewal class shortly after the expiration date, so check with yours before you book.
AHA cards can be looked up on the American Heart Association’s eCards site with the code on your card.
